ABSTRACT The Purpose of this research is to analzye the level of banking health with the CAMELS method on the performance of ‘sharia’ and conventional banking in the 2015-2018 period. The samples which is used in this research is using ‘purposive sampling’ technique that each bank amount to five Syariah Banking and five Conventional Bangking. The CAMELS method. The ratios used in the CAMELS method are CAR (Capital Adequacy Ratio), NPL (Non Performing Loan), NPM (Net Profit Margin), ROA (Return On Asset), BOPO ( Biaya Operasional dengan Pendapatan Nasional), LDR (Loan to Deposit Ratio), ROE (Return On Equity). The data analysis method used in the study is simple linier regression. The results of this study provide evidence that the health level of Islamic banking with the camel method tends to be lower than conventional banking. And from this study provides empirical evidence that the health of banks influences banking performance (sig. 0.041). The t-test shows that there are significant differences between Islamic and conventional banking. And Islamic banking and conventional banking partially have no significant effect.
