Analysis of variables that affect women’s participation to work in Kelurahan Pondok Cina, Depok

The involvement of women in the labor market gives positive impact on families’ financial condition. The an objective of this study is to analyze factors that might affect participation of women in work place, employing the Chi- Square Automatic Interaction Detection (CHAID) method, continued with logistic regression to estimate the rate of risk based on those factors to women’s work participation.. Dependent variable in this study is women’s work participation as categorical variable (work or not work), while the explanatory variables are level of education (basic, middle, high), age, marriage status, work training (yes or no), dependent, family’s support (get support or not get support), debt (has debt or has no debt), and health (suffering or not suffering severe illness). This study uses primary data with total 211 respondents in Kelurahan Pondok Cina, as the research site, collected during September to October 2018 using the purposive sampling. Factors found to be related to women’s work participation are family’s support, dependence (has or no responsibility for someone), and level of education. It is alsofound that a woman who received support from her family, those with no dependents are more likely to work than those who do not have family support nor have dependents.
