PERFIL DAS ADOLESCENTES GRÁVIDAS DO MUNICIPIO DE SÃO GONÇALO DO PARÁ/MG PROFILE OF PREGNANT ADOLESCENTS IN SÃO GONÇALO DO PARÁ/MG PERFIL DE ADOLESCENTES EMBARAZADAS EN SÃO GONÇALO DO PARÁ/MG

This study aims to evaluate the profile of pregnant adolescents assisted by primary health care in Sao Goncalo do Para MG. This is a descriptive exploratory study of quantitative approach. We analyzed the adolescent age, education level, marital status, number of prenatal visits, gestational age, parity and mode of delivery. These aspects were obtained from secondary data provided by Department of the SUS (DATASUS) in the period between 2000 and 2011. The teenage pregnancy rate was around 16%. 70.9% were single in their first pregnancy. 38.2% of pregnant adolescents did not perform the appropriate number of prenatal visits and the percentage of preterm births in the last two years is worrying. The characterization of the profile of pregnant adolescents can identify these needs and thus direct the educational activities in health and prenatal and postpartum care for this population.
