Comparative analysis of superoxide dismutase activitiew in a range of temperate and tropical teleost fish
1992
Abstract 1. 1. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities were examined in a range of tropical and temperate teleosts. 2. 2. Significant inter-specific differences in SOD activities of various tissues were observed. 3. 3. The results support the proposal of SOD involvement in protecting the fish integument against ultraviolet radiation (u.v.r.)-induced damage. 4. 4. Evidence is presented for the induction of SOD by u.v.r. in trout.
