The Transient Internal Friction Peak Associated with the Martensitic Transformation in Ni–Mn–Ti
1998
The transient internal friction peak associated with the thermoelastic martensitic transformation in 42.5 at% Ni-50 at% Mn-7.5 at% Ti alloy has been observed and analysed in terms of the Delorme and Gremaud-Bidaux models. The transient part of internal friction depends linearly on the transformation rate and non-linearly on the heating or cooling rate, oscillation amplitude and frequency. A comparison between the internal friction behaviour in Ni-Mn-Ti and Cu-Zn-Al alloys has been made using the available data on Cu-Zn-Al.
