A process for removing silicones and volatile organic compounds, in particular oil vapors from gases

Disclosed is a method for removing silicones from gases for a painting, comprising the following steps: a) providing a coating apparatus (13), b) providing a pressurized gas device (10), c) providing a filter (2) with a filter medium (9), and d) filtering said pressurized gas (through the filter medium 9). In order to achieve a particularly effective cleaning of the gas, it is proposed that the filter medium (9) contains a styrene-divinylbenzene-based ion exchange resin.
