Task Trainers in Emergency Care Simulation

Simulation-based training spans a continuum from standardized patients to high-fidelity mannequins. Task-training, one form of simulation on the continuum, plays an important part in ensuring emergency care providers are appropriately trained to manage the wide range of patient conditions they may see. From annual CPR training to infrequent procedures to augmentation of hybrid standardized patient or high-fidelity simulations, emergency care providers have a long history of using task trainers for education and assessment.
