Effect of uniaxial tensile stress on the permeability of monocrystalline MnZnFeII ferrite

1984
After application of a uniaxial stress to a frame of monocrystalline MnZn ferrite, the stress dependence of the permeability was measured. In addition the disaccommodation was measured and analyzed in detail. All results were satisfactorily explained by means of a simplified theoretical model. A high imaginary component of the permeability at frequencies of up to 3 MHz was found to be caused by the domain walls. It appears that the application of a well‐defined stress provides a means of controlling the permeability of the ferrite.
