Method and system for registering präprozeduralen images intraprocedural images using a pre-information database

Prior to a surgical operation digitally reconstructed radiographs (DRRs) for the pre-operative images of each individual patient to be generated. Signatures are extracted from the DRR. The signatures are stored in an information database. During the surgical procedure, a signature from the intra-operative image is extracted. Intraoperative signature is compared with the stored preoperative signatures. Preoperative image having an optimal signature match with the intraoperative signature is recalled. The retrieved preoperative image is registered with the intra-operative image.
