Plasma‐Assisted Conversion of CO 2

2021
Plasma technology is an emerging technology for CO2 conversion, providing a possible pathway to electrify the chemical industry. The basics of plasma physics and plasma chemistry are discussed, including the mechanisms for converting CO2 in the plasma. The influence of catalysts in plasma‐driven CO2 conversion is discussed, with emphasis on catalyst development and the mutual influence of the plasma and the catalyst. Experimental performance achieved with plasma‐driven CO2 conversions, the models describing plasma catalysis, as well as considerations for scale‐up and process development are discussed in the last part of the chapter.
