Liver uptake and increased renal uptake of Tc-99m HMDP in a patient with iron overload.

Bone scintigraphy was performed in a 66-year-old man who had subtotal esophagectomy for carcinoma performed 4 months earlier. Increased activity of Tc-99m HMDP in both the liver and kidneys was recognized simultaneously. The patient was found to have received repeated chondroitin sulfate iron colloid injections.
