Application of microfiltration of ceramic membrane to the production of ESL milk

The study of purity of ceramic membrane (Membralox GP 1.4 μm) in skim milk is investigated. When the temperature of skim milk is 50 ℃, and Volume Concentration Ratio (VCR) = 20, filtrated continuously for 6.5 hours, the Transit Membrane Pressure (TMP) and flux remain permanent. The efficiency of bacteria separation was above 99. 99% , which can achieve the condition of operation and regeneration. The membrane - filtrated milk is packaged aseptically in different temperature. The shelf life is extended dramatically, which indicted the technology of membrane microfiltration is an excellent method for the production of ESL milk.
