The phylogenetic relationship between goldfish and crucian carp Carassius auratus in different regions based on mtDNA D-loop region sequence

2010
The phylogenetic relationship between crucian carp Carassius auratus and goldfish was studied by partial mitochondrial DNA D-loop region sequencing.Fragments of 472-471 bp at the 5' end of mitochondrial DNA D-loop region were sequenced in 11 individuals of the crucian carp from 6 localities and 15 individuals of four major lines of goldfish. The sequence of the goldfish showed high similarity to the crucian carp from Yangtze River drainage basin with the genetic distance from 0.00426 to 0.00749.The minimal value of genetic distance(0.00426) was detected between goldfish and the crucian carp from Jiaxing Nan lake, while relatively high value was detected between goldfish and C.auratus from the Yellow River(0.01073) and from Minjiang River(0.01291).The sequence of Carassius auratus gibelio was found to be clustered into a separate clade, indicating that goldfish may originate from Yangtze River drainage basin.
