Prevalence of comorbidities in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in presence of heart failure

Background: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD ) is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases worldwide. It has seen a strong Association between COPD and cardiovascular disease, and heart failure (HF) and COPD , coupled with this , more than two thirds of individuals with COPD die because non-pulmonary cause. Aims: Describe the main comorbidities in COPD patients with and without Heart Failure. Methods: cross-sectional study in patients with COPD diagnosis ( n = 3,128 ) at Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Respiratorias “Ismael Cosio Villegas”. Results: The prevalence of heart failure in patients with COPD was 5.7 %. Patients with COPD and HF had higher prevalence of stroke (11.2 % vs 0.4 %, p Conclusions: We observed strongest association of EVC in patients with COPD in coexistence with right HF.
