On the Structure of Crystalline Graphite Intergrowths

1986
We shall discuss a structural model of crystalline graphite conglomerates on the basis of electron microscopy data. Conglomerates are defined here as compact intergrowths such as bicrystals, multicrystals, spherulites, noncompact dendritic forms of branched or skeletal types, and so on. We assume that the model is applicable to graphite crystallization from the melt in modified alloys based on iron, nickel, and cobalt cooled at high rates. The following features are basic for the suggested structural model.
