Study of the Effect of Progesterone therapy on the responses of the isolated rate ureter and ileum preparations to Acetylcholine

2011
This is the study of the effects of progesterone therapy in female (virgin) albinorats, on theresponses of isolated ureter and ileum preparations to acetylcholine. Progesterone was injected subcutaneously in 20mg/kg daily doses for 14 days, in the case of experiments on ilium, and in 50 mg/kg daily doses for 3 days, in the case of experiments on ureter. For experiments on ureter, acetylcholine was used in concentrations of 0.1 and 1 ug/ml, whereas for experiments on ilieum it was used in the dose range of 10 - 80 ng/ml. peristaltic movements of ureter and contractile responses of ileum were recorded with the help of a force displacement transducer on a grass polygraph. The evaluation of data shwed that progesterone therapy did not modify the stimulant effectof acetylcholine on these preparations.
