Neural network algorithms and implementations

Most neural network development is being performed on special-purpose digital accelerator systems. Semiconductor neural network chip development has not been as fruitful as originally projected. A reexamination is made of the criteria for a successful neural network chip, and relaxations are suggested in several areas. An example is given of a restricted use neural network chip which can be fabricated using present digital semiconductor technology. >
