Recombinant expression of human NF-IL6 in E. coli and its bioactivity determination

NF-IL6, a nuclear factor for interleukine 6 expression, is a member of C/EBP family. It plays an important role in gene regulation of inflammation, differenciation, acute phase reaction, forming of cytokine net, tumoregenesis and apoptosis. In this report, we fused GST gene to NF-IL6 gene and recombinantly expressed it in E. coli. The produced protein can bind to NF-IL6 binding motif determined with Gel Retardation Assay. In addition, we found that recombinant protein inclusion body, although the expression level was low.
