This study aimed to examine the vocabulary used in High School English I·II textbooks, the English test of College Scholastic Ability Tests (CSATs), and EBS materials as well as differences in vocabulary use among them. To investigate differences, three corpora (English I·II textbooks, the CSATs, and EBS materials) were constructed and analyzed with various corpus-based analysis programs. The results of the study showed that the vocabulary levels among three corpora are quite different. The difficulty level of vocabulary of the EBS materials was higher than those of the CSATs and the textbooks. This seems to imply that the EBS materials could require more cognitive load when students study vocabulary. It would be desirable to keep a balance in vocabulary levels among the materials in order to reduce students" learning burden.
