The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a lightweight component (22) from a metal sheet (16), a fiber fabric or fiber scrim embedded in a thermoplastic resin matrix (21) and a mass of fiber-reinforced plastic (20) is formed, in particular for producing a body part. Such a process has the following features of the invention: - a mold (1) having a male mold part (2) and a bottom mold part (3) which is moved to an open position, - the metal sheet (16) is inserted from below into the tempered mold top part (2) and fixed, - the bottom mold part (3) has upwardly directed projections (4), wherein between said projections (4) is introduced the fiber reinforced plastic (20), which is heated, - the projections (4) is stored (21) is heated, the fibrous web or batt that is embedded in the thermoplastic polymer matrix and draped - the mold (1) is moved into a closed position, wherein the pressing of the fiber web or fiber fabric, which is embedded in the thermoplastic resin matrix (21) and forming a structure (23) from the glass fiber-reinforced plastic (20) located between the fiber web or fiber fabric, which is embedded in the thermoplastic resin matrix (21) and the bottom mold part (3) is arranged.
