40 Gbit/s TDM System Technologies and Field Trials

40 Gbit/s TDM field transmission tests have been performed within ACTS projects AC067-HIGHWAY and AC049-SPEED over 111 km of standard single mode fiber (G. 652) installed in the Stuttgart area, including different 40 Gbit/s modulation/multiplexing schemes (OTDM/RZ, ETDMBinary, ETDM/Quaternary-DST). The observed field fiber transmission system performance and dispersion tolerances of the different 40 Gbit/s TDM system technologies are compared.
