First inspections of mistblowers in Serbia

2007
First inspections of mistblowers in Serbia took place in 2006. The inspection in Serbia is still not mandatory but it will enter into force by the beginning of 2007. Laboratory for plant-protection machines inspection, of the Department for Agricultural Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, has modern equipment for inspection of new and used machines. Inspections were conducted in compliance with the European Norm 13790. They were introduced on machine users’ request, following the introduction of the HACCP quality control system in the meat processing industry. The results of inspection show that the machines failed to meet the norm requirements despite their recent make (6 years). The most frequent cause of failure was the blocked nozzle, which is caused by poor maintenance. In some cases, pump capacity did not match the nominal value, i.e. it exceeded the nominal capacity for more than 20%. The paper also recommends corrective measures.
