Series Compensation Technique for the Reduction of Voltage Sag for Transmission System

This paper presents a method for the reduction of voltage sag as well as transmission losses for an IEEE 30 bus system. In this proposed method, a series compensating device (i.e. Capacitor) which is used to solve dual propose (i.e., reduction of voltage sag and transmission losses). The Placement of capacitor decided by the power transfer capability of each line, and this capacitor rating are generally considered for the transmission lines. As faults are random so, Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) technique is used to simulate fault location and type. The proposed method shows that a capacitor is capable of solving multiple issues in a power system.
