Performance Test and Analysis of Single Unit of Solid-State High Repetitive Frequency Linear Transformer Driver (LTD)

2018
Solid-state Linear transformer driver (LTD) using semiconductor switches is a new pulse power technology with high repetitive frequency which can produces high voltage pulse. The time delay among different modules (“brick”) of LTD has a certain influence on the rise time of the output waveform, which is especially important when a switch such as silicon carbide (SiC) is used to get a shorter rise time. In this paper, a method for solving time delay dispersion problem is proposed. The influence of each brick in a unit (termed “cavity”) is studied. The time delay in each brick is measured and analyzed. By using the method mentioned above, the rise time of the total output waveform has decreased by 1.2ns.
