EVALUASI KESESUAIAN LAHAN TANAMAN CABAI MERAH KECIL (Capsicum annum L.) DI KECAMATAN BONTORAMBA KABUPATEN JENEPONTO

2021
This study aims to determine the actual and potential land suitability and limiting factors for the development of small red chilli (Capsicum annum L .) plants in Bontoramba District, Jeneponto Regency. The research method used in this research is the survey method and the determination of the land suitability class based on the FAO method with the land boundary factors approach. Secondary data needed such as rainfall data and annual average temperature for each of the last 10 years in Bontoramba District were obtained from BMKG and the collection of basic maps such as administrative maps, land use maps, species maps. land and slope maps. The maps were then overlapped to obtain 25 land units. Sampling was carried out in five places in land units with different soil types and then analyzed in the laboratory. The land characteristics and land quality obtained were adjusted to the land suitability criteria for small red chili plants. The results showed that the actual land suitability of small red chili plants in Bontoramba Subdistrict, Jeneponto Regency on land units 1, 4, 9, 18, and 23 was included in S3 (according to marginally) with limiting factors, among others: temperature (annual average temperature) and available nutrients (K2O). Meanwhile, based on potential land suitability including S3 (according to marginally) with a temperature limiting factor (annual average temperature) in all land units, namely 1, 4, 9, 18, and 23. Because the land characteristics in Bontoramba sub-district are not suitable for the development of chili plants. (Capsicum annum L.) it is advisable to develop other plants that are in accordance with the characteristics of the land in Bontoramba sub-district, namely Pepper (Piper ningrum) because the potential land suitability is S1 (very suitable) in all land units 1, 4, 9, 18, and 23
