Linear Stability Assessment of Cryogenic Rocket Engines
2016
The linear high frequency combustion stability of DLR’s cryogenic H2/O2 BKD test chamber is assessed. For this purpose a hybrid methodology is used, which is based on the separated simulation of the fluid dynamics and the description of the acoustic propagation with linearizer Euler equations. Lorentzian fitting and a parameter extraction method are employed to extract linear damping rates from experimental pressure recordings, which are subsequently used to validate the numerical results showing good agreement.
