Electrochromic coatings for smart windows: Crystalline and amorphous WO3 films

Abstract We discuss electrochromic coatings for potential use on smart windows with dynamic control of radiant energy. We investigate crystalline WO 3 -based films by computations aimed at assessing their performance limits and amorphous WO 3 -based films with regard to their practical performance in contact with liquid or solid electrolytes.
