Analysis of PaO_2/PaCO_2 in 210 patients diagnosis as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease on admission

Objective:To investigate the value of the PaO_2/PaCO_2 in patients diagnosed as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Method:210 cases were divided into five groups on final diagnosis:the acute COPD group(n=154), the pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) group (n=21),the obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea (OSAHS) group(n=11),the asthma group (n=15) and the interstial lung disease (ILD) group(n=9). The PaO_2/PaCO_2 ratio were compared among these groups. Result:There were significantly different in the PaO_2/PaCO_2 ratio and PaCO_2 between the COPD group, the PTE group, and the Asthma group (P0.05).There was significantly different in PaCO_2 between the ILD group and the COPD group.Conclusion:The PaO_2/PaCO_2 ratio is useful in differential diagnosis of the COPD, the PTE, and the asthma.
