In situ FTIR study of transformation of 3-cyanopyridine on V–Ti–O catalyst

2009
Surface complexes of cyanopyridine on a V–Ti–O catalyst were studied by in situ FTIR spectroscopy. In the temperature range of 130–290 °C, two types of adsorbed cyanopyridine bound to different sites (Lewis acid sites or Bronsted acid sites) were found to transform into surface nicotinamide. At 220–290 °C, surface heterocyclic complexes decompose to form carboxylates and ammonium ions.
