Development of a Simple Indicator of Muscle Load of Upper Extremity Teleworkers with Disability

2010
The aim of the study was evaluation of musculo-skeletal load of upper extremities by means of electromyography, during telework performed by disabled persons and development of a simple indicator of muscle load. There were tested 5 people (men and women) in various age with disability of various type. For the sake of disability every case was evaluated separately. Results revealed that load of selected muscles during the whole workday was between 5 to 40 % MVC. On the tested workplaces the indicator of load ranges from 13 to 415. It was made an assumption that the limit of the load indicator should be up to 150 and values above 150 should be reduced due to occupational safety reason. The indicator of load from three of five tested persons had acceptable values. Higher than limited value of indicator of load mainly results from the long time of work.
