X-ray induced conversion in the absorption bands of additively colored KCl

Absorption spectra were obtained for additively colored KCl at --180 deg C after quenching, after irradiation with F light at room temperature, and after exposure to an x-ray beam. The maximum absorption coefficients of the various bands are shown as a function of exposure time. Similar experiments were carried out with crystals containing F, Z, and Zi centers. (L.T.W.)
