Concentración de metanol en algunas bebidas alcohólicas comercializadas en Venezuela por medio de la técnica GC-FID

2018
Concentration of methanol in some alcoholic beverages marketed in Venezuela by GC-FID. Gas chromatography technique with flame ionization detector (GC-FID) has been employed for the quantification of methanol in diverse alcoholic drinks of legal (Cocuy, Superior and Antioqueno) and clandestine (Miche, Chuchuguaza and Cacique Arco de Palo) sale in Venezuela by using the internal standard method. Additionally, the ethanol content was quantified to validate the analysis by direct comparison with the value reported for the commercially available Cocuy. The methanol concentration was found between 76.8 and 2456.8 ppm. According to these results, the methanol concentration in 44% of the samples analyzed exceeds the permitted limit (250 ppm) indicated in the Venezuelan legal regulation COVENIN 3362-2001.
