CASE REPORT OF DELIRIUM RELATED INTOXICATION OF DATURA STRAMONIUM

Datura stramonium (DS) belongs to the belladonna family, which contains several alkaloids. The plant contains anticholinergics, such as atropine, scopolamine, and hyoscyamine. Intake of high doses of D. stramonium may cause poisoning, visual and auditory hallucinations, and delirium. In this paper, we describe the case of a 56-year-old male who ate D. stramonium seeds and came to the emergency room with a dry mouth, euphoric symptoms, visual hallucinations, and disorientation.
