Air transport - thematic research summary

A synthesis of results of completed European research projects related to air transport is presented. The first part includes a brief overview of the scope of the theme and summarises the relevant main policy developments at EU level. The second part contains a synthesis of the main findings and policy implications from research projects in this area, and identifies the implications for further research. This is done separately for seven sub-themes as follows: advanced vehicle design / technology development; aircraft and operational safety; airport capacity and operation; air traffic control / management; efficient, quiet and environmentally friendly engines; customer satisfaction; and business process improvements.
