Electronic processing for 10Gbit/s dispersion supported transmission systems

1999
Dispersion Supported Transmission (DST) is a method to achieve optical transmission over very long distance of standard single mode fibre (SSMF). Two different approaches for demodulation of a DST signal are reported, a tuneable low pass filter and a DST decision circuit. The principle of operation is described and electrical measurements to verify this are presented. The circuits were manufactured in a SiGe technology.
