Modeling Ground Water Mounding in a Heterogeneous Unconfined Aquifer

1993
A numerical, potential flow solution for the flow pattern and water table elevation due to recharge in unconfined, heterogeneous aquifers has been developed using boundary, conforming coordinates. This method uses finite differences to solve the transformed flow equation in a rectangular (computational) domain, obtained by grid generation of the physical domain. The actual free surface is obtained by iteration to satisfy the governing equation and free surface boundary conditions on an unknown boundary position. Results from the method show reasonable agreement with others work.
