Expression and clinicopathologic significance of CD147 and osteopontin in osteosarcoma

2017
Objective To investigate the expression of CD147 and osteopontin (OPN) in osteosarcoma, and their correlation with prognosis. Methods Immunohistochemical method was used to assess the expression of CD147 and OPN in 25 cases of osteochondroma tissues and 77 cases of osteosarcoma tissues. Results The expression rate of CD147 in osteosarcoma tissues was higher than that in osteochondroma tissues (77.92% vs. 16.00%; t= 30.957, P=0.000). The expression of CD147 was related to Eneeking stage and lung metastasis of osteosarcoma (t=6.502, P=0.011; t=5.705, P=0.017). The expression rate of OPN in osteosarcoma tissues was higher than that in osteochondroma tissues (71.43% vs. 20.00%; t= 20.608, P=0.000). The expression of OPN was related to Eneeking stage, soft tissue involvement and lung metastasis of osteosarcoma (t=4.413, P=0.036; t=9.247, P=0.002; t=6.875, P=0.009). Conclusion CD147 and OPN were up-regulated in osteosarcoma, and they can be the reference indicators to detect the progression of osteosarcoma. Key words: CD147; Osteopontin; Osteosarcoma
