Development of hypocholestrolaemic formulation containing soyalecithin

2002
Soyalecithin is used in hypercholesterolaemic patients, atherosclerosis patients since it reduces the level of cholesterol and improves the memory function, protects against fatty degeneration of the liver. Various capsule formulations of soyalecithin (Trial I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII) using different pharmaceutical excipients such as aerosil, talc, light MgCO 3 , were prepared and were tested using different evaluating parameters such as weight variation test, disintegration test, moisture content, acetone insoluble matter, hexane insoluble matter, acid value, soyalecithin content, microbiological evaluation, stability studies done upto 60 days at room temperature as well as 45°C with 85% RH. Toxicological studies such as, acute toxicity, subacute toxicity studies were performed. The formulation (Trial IV) which satisfied the above requirement was chosen as the best one.
