COMUNICACIÓN GESTUAL Y DISCAPACIDAD

Gestural language as an exploration element in the communication process supposes, in the first place, the need to go into the theory, the classic models which explain communication as well as the topics implying the revision of areas of important relevance in disability. Objective: The objective of this article is to make an approach to the theory of communication and Semiotics from its three routes: Semantics, Syntactic, and Pragmatics which pretends a revision of the understanding process of the sign from these three dimensions. Also, we present the concept of disability, the conceptual bases that support this exploration and highlight the predominant elements of gestural language presenting its theoretical context and approaching the topic as a vehicle for communication. Material and Method: this theoretical review examines concepts and postulates given by different professionals and generates inside the text the discussion that highlights the proximity between the conceptual treatment of the disability and non-verbal communication. Results: the study of the relations between disability and gestural is poor, which implies the clarification of specific communication postulates, models, theories and suppositions of analysis of subjects with specific characteristics of sensorial disability. Conclusions: in the current approaches about disability, communication has a special meaning; many health attention models intend to reach an adequate level of participation of the person in with disabilities no matter their origin, which demonstrates it is adequate to establish clear theoretical bases that disclose the proper way to offer better attention in the practice to people with disabilities.
