Cross-Cultural Testing within a Multicultural Society

1983
This chapter is concerned with the issues and problems of assessing different ethnic and cultural groups within such plural societies as Canada, the United States or Great Britain. The main question to be addressed is whether tests that were designed for a majority group can legitimately be administered and applied to a culturally different group within any one society. More specifically, are tests developed by urban, middle-class psychologists and normed on middle-class subjects suitable for assessing individuals from a different sociocultural background?
