Understanding Political Science: A Matter of Skills.

It is the contention of this article that college students today often tack basic academic skills; that the development of these skills is closely and inextricably interwoven with teaching an academic discipline; and that every college instructor must combine teaching his/her discipline with work on these skills, including work with student papers. A variety of teaching techniques are described to show how the author does this in two political science courses.
