Eradication of MRSA skull base osteitis by combined treatment with antibiotics and sinonasal irrigation with sodium hypochlorite

Osteitis of the skull base is a life-threatening disease. If the underlying bacterium is multi-resistant, prognosis is worsened and access to adjunct medical treatment deteriorates due to the necessary hygienic precautions, resulting in increased costs. In this special setting, our case report illustrates an additional therapeutic option helping to eradicate multi-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
