Examining adoption of Electronic Human Resource Management from the perspective of Technology Organization Environment Framework

2021
On the basis of the technology organization environment (TOE) framework, a research model has been devised to examine the determining factors with regard to the adoption of electronic human resource management (e-HRM) in the organization. This study evaluates the impact of technological context (information technology infrastructure and information technology competence), organizational context (perceived benefits of e-HRM and top management support), and environmental context (coercive pressure and normative pressure) upon the adoption of e-HRM. In order to validate the proposed hypotheses, structural equation modeling (SEM) was applied. Data were collected from 382 executives of the human resource (HR) department of full-member firms from Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA). Amongst the TOE aspects, results of the data analysis reveal that information technology (IT) infrastructure, IT competence, top management support, and normative pressure towards e-HRM have significant influence upon the adoption of e-HRM.
