The article provides an insight into the studies on the introduction of teacher examination in the domestic and foreign schools. A historical dimension of this issue is considered, as well as the issue of designing such an exam in different countries (the current and prospective versions). A draft document on the introduction of the exam in our country is considered. Materials on how to improve training of pedagogical university students for their passing the exam are presented.
