RESEARCH ON HYPERTENSION OF RURAL RESIDENTS AND INFLUENCING FACTORS IN TANGSHAN CITY

[Objective] To understand hypertension prevalence of rural residents in Tangshan City of Hebei and influencing factors. [Methods] One of the villages in Tangshan City, which included 700 residents aged over 30 years. 288 people were selected, of whom 114 were men, 174 women, to carry out a questionnaire survey and medical examination. [Results] The hypertension prevalence rate ( 44.44% ) of inhabitants in the village was higher than that of rural residents in Hebei Province in 2004. The mean systolic blood pressure was (132.78 ± 20.06) mmHg, mean diastolic blood pressure was (82.71 ± 11.93) mmHg, and a variety of factors influencing the prevalence of hypertension rates were not statistically significant. [Conclusion] Improving rural residents’ cognition on influencing factors of hypertension is the most effective way to reduce the prevalence rate of hypertension in rural residents.
