Controlled clustering: a technique for use in studying thin film nucleation in the field ion microscope

A method is described for preparing single adsorbate clusters containing known numbers of atoms from isolated adatoms vapour-deposited on the atomically perfect crystal faces of specimens in the field ion microscope.
