Life Cycle Engineering: State of the Art and Research Perspectives

2008
Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) has developed to a major research discipline within the research community. Within this discipline, numerous approaches containing manifold models, concepts, and tools have been developed, discussed and implemented. While the number of different approaches continuously increases, it is a challenge for organisations to classify, identify and implement the 'right' ones and to integrate them into a company specific LCE approach. Against this background, this paper gives an overview of the state of the art on LCE approaches and relates them into an organisational context. Future LCE research perspectives are derived and discussed considering the state of the art.
