Conversion of bremsstrahlung photo neutron mean energies to monochromatic photo neutron mean energies

Abstract Using a method described by Barrett and Thies 1 ) one can measure readily the mean energies of neutrons produced in bremsstrahlung experiments. It is shown here how one can calculate from data on bremsstrahlung photo neutron mean energies the neutron mean energies that correspond to an idealized experiment using monochromatic gammas. Simple formulae are derived to estimate the accuracy of calculated mean energies. The practical limits of experiments on photo neutron mean energies are discussed.
