2019
Introduction: As musculoskeletal complaints and sleep disorders have consequences for the health of the worker and an important financial cost for the company. The objective of the present study was to verify the effectiveness of a protocol of workout exercises in the pilates method, on pain complaint and subjective quality of sleep in company employees. Material and Method: This is a randomized controlled trial. Participants were 57 (n = 57) subjects in two groups: Experimental Group (SG) - (n = 27) and Control Group (CG) - (n = 30), totaling 12 intervention sessions. There was approval without ethics and research committee. A visual analogue pain scale and pittsburgh sleep quality index were used. An evaluation was performed by a blind researcher. Results: After a non GE intervention decreased 5 to 4 in the Dor Vas, no PSQI score ranged from 2 to 11 points with a mean of 5 (± 3.06) demonstrating overall non-score drop. In GC, the pain score maintained and increased the overall PSQI score. Conclusion: The findings indicate effectiveness of the exercise gymnastics protocol in the pilates method when compared to the CG. There was a concern of the participants in search of resources to improve the pain neglecting the complaint about the quality of sleep. The data indicate a need for in-depth studies demonstrating the results of interventions with applications of different methods for end-effectiveness comparisons.
