THE ASSESSMENT OF MULTIPLE RAMP-METERING ON THE RINGROAD OF AMSTERDAM

1996
Amsterdam's A10 Ringroad has been the subject of coordinated ramp metering at the four on-ramps before the Coentunnel. This paper describes an assessment of the effectiveness of the four local systems carried out as part of the DRIVE-II-EUROCOR project. Data was collected by means of electronic systems, visual observation and other sources. The results are analysed in terms of effects on flow, speed and travel time on the motorway and flow and queue lengths on the entry ramps. Route choice behaviour is also analysed. A variety of results were obtained possibly due to the small data sample. For the covering abstract see IRRD 880251.
